If you have ever seen Gilmore Girls, it is obvious that this dramedy is women driven. The show follows a single mom who had her daughter when she was 16. Lorelai is also a small business owner, and balances motherhood, work, and her romantic life fearlessly. She differs from other TV moms because of her quick wit, independence, and lack of a filter. I like to think that my feminism evolved because of her. She made me think that I could be opinionated and assertive, while still caring about femininity and pop culture. One of her most important feminist moments was when she proposed to her boyfriend. She proved yet again that she wasn't scared to go against gender norms. I think that it is important to recognize complex characters such as Lorelai, because her personality and bravery has shaped millions of women.
